Playing with God…R v?
Friday, September 29th, 2006Attended a CME talk today, during lunch time which given by our Haematologist - DR Tan. The titile is ‘STEM CELL and TRANSPLANTATION’. Learn lot n enjoyed her talk much. Her duty is nv be easy. Everyday, she face her cancer patient in the hospital who are from different races, different ages n from different coutries. She is all the time try her best to cure her patient, n gv advice to patient’s family as well. Anyway, she said that her job sometimes is like ‘playing with God’. This impressed me lot coz she said, sometimes, v know that certain patient is already too late for treatment, bcoz they delayed the time to seek for treatment, or realized the disease when its proceeded to final stage. But DR Tan, as a DR, she cannot tell the truth but still need to try her best to cure the patient, whatever methods.
And, there were some cases which she had done her best, that she had successfully cured the patient from cacer. But, after some period of time, the patient passed away, not bcoz of the cancer, but from other infection…Thats her means of ‘playing with God’….and there is a case that she showed us, where a cancer patient which have done his stem cell transplant, was cured from the cancer, but his body skin was starting to peel off, at the end, he had became a ’skinless-man’, all red fleshes, with no single piece of skin found on his body. His body was exposed to the infection, n passed away due to infection in few mths time. Feel sad to hear of this, coz v dunno whether v did the right thing to the patient. That, when v r trying to cure them, r v actually make them suffered more??…..
